godaddy, go?

I’m sitting on a tech support call with godaddy.com, the people who host my site, as they try to figure out why my site is essentially slow as mud.  I’m writing this offline because it appears to be my wordpress database at fault.  It’s a bit of a mystery.  And I’ve been punted via that magical word “escalation” … and, supposedly, in 24-72 hours my problem will be resolved.  It frustrates me as a tech geek not to be able to solve my own problems, but I’m hoping that the money I pay these people will work out in my favor.  We shall see…

[edit] The slowness, responsiveness has cleared up for now… I wonder who kicked the server in the back room to get this going?

I have seen newspapers, magazines, and research papers left behind in restroom stalls. I’ve even overheard the tell-tale beeping of PDA/phones being used in the stall next to mine. I know people even bring books into the restroom to relieve boredom. But over the course of the last few months I’ve encountered a first which has become a very strange trend: printed wikipedia articles.

Entertaining the Ladies

My Aunt Sue and my mother came to visit about three weeks ago and I’m just now getting around to getting the pictures up and blogged about.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t exactly stellar for their visit, but the time we had was super.  I kept the ladies busy by taking them out hiking through the wet hillsides of King County and wondering the required tourist trap that is Pike Place market.  I think they had a great time.  There were a number of firsts to be had on this trip, including what we think was my Aunt’s first ever martini.  I find that hard to believe, but I was glad to be part of showing her the error of her ways.  You’ll be able to tell from the pics that she certainly enjoyed it.
