This weekend was, in a word, awesome. In a few more words it was crowded, voyeuristic, and drunktacular…
Fremont Summer Solstice festival:
naked bodies + body paint + insane creativity + bikes = awesome parade
It is hard to know how else to describe it but that. Be warned, the pictures are mildly graphic and are thus private. This is, yet again, another example of why Seattle is a great place to live. People here are just so free and relaxed, even the cops are down. The parade to welcome the summer solstice has been going on for years, and the naked bikers just have started to become an “unofficial part” of the festivities. Needless to say, a great way to start the day…
5 Miles of Drunken (R|F)un:
Sure, I’m not a runner. But if you tell me that you’re going on on a 5 mile run and stopping at 7 bars along the way, I’m so there! After the parade, I headed out to join the Seattle Anti-Freeze Runners group on the run mapped below. Holy crap was that a great time! Best. Idea. Ever! Much thanks to Firewallender for forwarding me the invite to this lil gem, and for the SAF guys for putting it together. Pics of our drunken progression can be found in this unlisted album as well as on Facebook.
And then there was recovery…
Well, not really. I went on a hike with Andy today, and then spent the evening at my first Lindy Hop lesson of the summer. I’m super excited about picking up Lindy again. After which, of course, we had to stick around and practice for a few hours.
You would expect that I would be tired, but not so much. All in all, this was a rock-star weekend. A+++. Would do it all again.
Hmmm… interesting blog title. :-)
By the way, did you get approximately one hundred Facebook notifications on Sunday? Holy cow, the pictures just won’t stop coming!
Yes… an absolutely crazy number of tags on Facebook. When I got back to civilization post hiking with Andy, I had something like 30 in that 3-hour window. Crazy!
