damn good & busy

This is a catch-up post.  I’ll fill in details later when there is time.  It’s not that I haven’t had much to say, quite the opposite.  It’s more that I’ve been too wore out to say much of anything because life has been keep’n me pretty busy… but I had some time on the bus tonight, so, here we go!

The coolest thing that I’m not going to blog about is my mom and Aunt Sue visiting the weekend before last… that deserves an entire post of it’s own TBD once I get the pictures uploaded.

However, last weekend was a complete random sampling of fun.

It started with a Friday the 13th “Thriller Movie Night” hosted by Firewallender.  The movie voted upon for viewing: Freeway, which can only be watched in a large group setting after plenty of drinks have been consumed otherwise it will eat your brain.  Firstly, it’s not a thriller, so it didn’t quite meet the genre requirements to start with.  Somewhat disappointing.  Secondly, it has a pre-Jack Bauer Kiefer Sutherland playing the pathetically creepy bad guy and a pre-Blonde Lawyer Reese Witherspoon playing a dim-witted, spunky, white-trash completely unbelievable heroine.

The acting, surprisingly, wasn’t the bad part… the bad part was that this modern interpretation of “Little Red Riding Hood” was so sick, twisted, and unbelievably ridiculous that you were left with no choice but to drink more to make the pain go away.  We should have known from the plot synopsis: A twisted take on ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ with a teenage juvenile delinquent on the run from a social worker traveling to her grandmother’s house and being hounded by a charming, but sadistic, serial killer/pedophile. Yah.  real winner there. It’s filled with winning scenes such as the would-be-killer asking if the victim Believed in Jesus before shooting them, just to make sure that they won’t go to hell before they’re shot.  Or the heroin defiantly proclaiming to a trick that she gets “claustrophobic sucking strange c**k”.  Again, it’s a winner.  Just make sure you bring the PBR for this one.

The thing that saved that night was the post-game out at the George & Dragon, and then on to Nectar where we got our Salsa grooves on.  Over and over again I’m impressed with how much fun Firewallender is to dance with, and how awesome her friends are.  It’s really making me look forward to Lindy Hop lessons with her and her friends starting this Sunday!

Wow… too much detail.  Speeding things up, since then there has been (not in any order):

  • some awesome front-porch girllage
  • the witnessing of my best friend falling head-over-heals
  • the discovery of a totally awesome kickball league
  • some wonderfully nice (and hot and sweaty) swing dancing
  • a few fantastic evening meal with friends
  • a free concert at the Triple Door to see the Old-97’s w/ Abby
  • some Pike Place wanderage with Abby
  • the viewing of a “Dykes vs. Queers” Softball game (I heart Capitol Hill)
  • my year anniversary of employment at M$.

It’s at this point that I realize why I’m not finding time to work out as much as I used to… I’m a busier cat than I realized!  And, heck, I didn’t even really say much about how much work is draining me.  Kinda makes me wanna go home right now and nap, but instead tonight we’re celebrating the Maj’s birthday with homemade Indian food and some retro 80’s dancing.  Onward!
