Entertaining the Ladies

My Aunt Sue and my mother came to visit about three weeks ago and I’m just now getting around to getting the pictures up and blogged about.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t exactly stellar for their visit, but the time we had was super.  I kept the ladies busy by taking them out hiking through the wet hillsides of King County and wondering the required tourist trap that is Pike Place market.  I think they had a great time.  There were a number of firsts to be had on this trip, including what we think was my Aunt’s first ever martini.  I find that hard to believe, but I was glad to be part of showing her the error of her ways.  You’ll be able to tell from the pics that she certainly enjoyed it.

I took a short hike today out at Cougar Mountain near Issaquah.  It was a beautiful hike and just what I needed on a gorgeous day like today.  There are so many trails out at Cougar Mountain, particularly starting from the Red Town trailhead… if you ever go, take good instructions on which trails you want to take and where to turn when because it’s really easy to get turned around.  I actually ended up taking a bit shorter of a hike than I intended because on the loop back I took the wrong trail on my way back.  All together, the De Loe Wall loop is an easy 5mi with an ‘okay’ view at the lookout point.

La Push, La Push it real Good

I’m excited, and now that I’m on the mend, I’m feel’n like I can actually look forward to camping next weekend.  It’s still up in the air whether or not we’re doing a repeat of the Olympic coast-line that I saw last summer, or something slightly different, but it doesn’t matter to me.  It’s going to be great to get out on my first backpacking trip of the summer.

Hopefully the weather in the Olympics is better this time, although it’s not looking promising at the moment.
