{"id":88,"date":"2008-05-16T10:04:11","date_gmt":"2008-05-16T17:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/?p=88"},"modified":"2008-05-16T10:04:11","modified_gmt":"2008-05-16T17:04:11","slug":"wfc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wfc\/","title":{"rendered":"WFC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some people <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WFH\" target=\"_blank\">WFH<\/a>, and 99% of days I WFWork, but this morning I&#8217;m WFCoffeehouse.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the perfect day to do so&#8230; my office doesn&#8217;t have a very good view of the outside world, and it&#8217;s too beautiful of a day to not enjoy the sunshine, even if it has to be\u00a0through a window pane.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>(<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Lucida Sans Unicode','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\">Incidentally<\/span>, if you <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=wfw\" target=\"_blank\"><em>urban dictionary WFW<\/em><\/a><em> you get some interesting definitions that were news to me.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t mind my office,\u00a0mostly because I don&#8217;t spend that much time in it even when I am at work.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a PM, which basically means I live off my laptop and\u00a0WFM\u00a0(work from meetings) most of the time anyway.\u00a0 I&#8217;m lucky in that I&#8217;ve got a window-by-proxy in that my office &#8220;window&#8221; (which looks into a hallway) looks directly through another office&#8217;s hallway window, and then out that <em>real<\/em> window.\u00a0 So, on most days I can actually see sunlight from my seat.<\/p>\n<p>WFC this morning got me thinking of the endless hours of time I spent at coffeehouses in Champaign-Urbana, and how I really miss that community.\u00a0 It was more than just recognizing the regulars, because you find that pretty much anywhere if you go there enough.\u00a0 But\u00a0somehow I ended up meeting people at Kopi, Aroma, Green Street (now renamed to something I never remember), Paradiso, etc. that became great friends.\u00a0 I could always count on running into someone that I knew when I would WFC, which I why I think I did it so much.\u00a0 I miss those people, and I miss those places because of them.<\/p>\n<p>Living in Capitol Hill, I think there might be a potential to establish that, which is one of the biggest attractions to living in this neighborhood.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the reason I&#8217;m not likely to move away from it anytime soon.\u00a0\u00a0And if I do, it would be to a place like\u00a0Fremont or Ballard which\u00a0have a similar feel.<\/p>\n<p>I guess I just never realized how important\u00a0that virtual neighborhood in\u00a0CU was to me.\u00a0\u00a0My city is great, and I love my neighborhood&#8230; it just hasn&#8217;t become a community to me quite yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some people WFH, and 99% of days I WFWork, but this morning I&#8217;m WFCoffeehouse.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the perfect day to do so&#8230; my office doesn&#8217;t have a very good view of the outside world, and it&#8217;s too beautiful of a day to not enjoy the sunshine, even if it has to be\u00a0through a window pane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,8],"tags":[43,30,42],"class_list":["post-88","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-personal","category-seattle","tag-cu","tag-m","tag-wfh"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/88","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=88"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/88\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=88"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=88"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/kmwoley.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=88"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
