Wicked!&#8230; oh, my!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was an adventure; Joyce spent her day at work, so I was free to wander the city and do as I pleased.\u00a0 The Met, the Lower East Side, my own personal Amazing Race, and then my first ever Broadway musical\u2026<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Met.<\/strong><br \/>\nI spent a good deal of it at the Met (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/\">Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/a>) where Patrick Stewart lent his voice to the fantastic audio tour describing the truly massive collection of Greek &amp; Roman sculpture &amp; other works of art.\u00a0 The Egyptian exhibit was truly amazing, housing one ancient tomb and a truly incredible temple which were moved to NY from Egypt for the museum.\u00a0 I think those two exhibits were my favorite part.\u00a0 There was also a Superhero &amp; Fashion exhibit which didn\u2019t live up to my excitement, although I did get to see the actual \u201cDark Knight\u201d Batsuit, the silver \u201cIronman\u201d prototype suit, and the thousands of lil pasties worn by Mystique in X-Men.\u00a0 It was pretty damn awesome to see those things close up and realize that not <em>everything <\/em>that is cool in movies is done CGI.<br \/>\n<strong>The LES.<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter that, I wondered to the LES (Lower East Side) and toured the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tenement.org\/\">Tenement Museum<\/a> (tiny tiny tiny homes for way toooo many people!) and ate at Katz Delicatessen (made famous by \u201cWhen Harry Met Sally\u201d).\u00a0\u00a0 Walking around the LES was fun and I really enjoyed it.\u00a0 I wish I would have had a bit more time to see more.<br \/>\n<strong>FedEx is a turd.<br \/>\n<\/strong>And then there was the adventure for the tickets:\u00a0 we had tickets to be delivered to us today for a show tonight.\u00a0 FedEx tried to deliver them yesterday, but couldn\u2019t, so we left the note on the door (signed) for them to leave them when they tried to delivered today.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t leave them.\u00a0 I got back at 4 and they still weren\u2019t here.\u00a0 I called.\u00a0 They said that they tried to deliver them at 10am.\u00a0 Did I mention that we signed the slip for them to leave the package?\u00a0 So, they said they\u2019d call the driver and he\u2019d be by.\u00a0 I wait.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t show.\u00a0 I call back.\u00a0 This person tells me no, no, no, he already went back to the station.\u00a0 You\u2019ll have to come here and get the tix.\u00a0 Fine.\u00a0 That\u2019s insane, it\u2019s far away, it\u2019s already 5pm, and I have to navigate a new place on the NYC subway\u2026 but fine.\u00a0 I need them.\u00a0 And the show is at 8pm.\u00a0 I\u2019m pissed, but I\u2019m down\u2026\u00a0 I can role with this.\u00a0 So I head out.<\/p>\n<p>An hour later, I\u2019m at the FedEx station in East Brooklyn\u2026 only to find out <em>the tickets aren\u2019t here either. <\/em> And they will never be there.\u00a0 Ever.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because this is the wrong station.\u00a0 The address on the slip left on the door is an old address.\u00a0 First, they try to send me to another station.\u00a0 But they call the driver\u2026 again\u2026 and apparently he is still in Brooklyn near the apt.\u00a0 He\u2019ll meet me there at 7pm.\u00a0 Off I rush back to the beginning\u2026<\/p>\n<p>So, he shows, I get the tickets, and I have to ask him: <strong>What The Hell, dude!<\/strong> Apparently he never even came by and was just covering for his sorry butt, because he had no clue\u2026 and was not even apologetic.\u00a0 Was just basically like, well, you got what you needed so why are you upset.<\/p>\n<p>I am mad because you just wasted 3 hours of time I was going to spend at MoMA, having dinner, and hanging out with my friend\u2026 and I now have less than an hour to make it to Broadway.\u00a0 <em>And you won\u2019t even acknowledge that you screwed the pooch. <\/em>That\u2019s why I\u2019m upset, jackass.\u00a0 &lt;sigh&gt;\u00a0 And, in the end, all I can really do is bitch\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wicked!<\/strong><br \/>\nBut I recovered\u2026 and had a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful time watching <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wickedthemusical.com\">Wicked!<\/a> With Joyce.\u00a0 It was the highlight of the day, and the rest of the evening was relaxing and fun.\u00a0 The premise is great: how did the Wicked Witch actually become Wicked?\u00a0 Or is she at all!?<\/p>\n<p>We had a great time at the show and the dinner to follow was perfect.\u00a0 It all worked out in the end, for which I\u2019m very grateful, and it was very easy to get back into a great mood and enjoy the rest of the night.\u00a0 I highly recommend Wicked!\u00a0 Good story, pretty decent music (at least two of the numbers were over the top great), and the set\/production was absolutely astounding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was an adventure;
