My Aunt Sue and my mother came to visit about three weeks ago and I’m just now getting around to getting the pictures up and blogged about. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t exactly stellar for their visit, but the time we had was super. I kept the ladies busy by taking them out hiking through the wet hillsides of King County and wondering the required tourist trap that is Pike Place market. I think they had a great time. There were a number of firsts to be had on this trip, including what we think was my Aunt’s first<\/em> ever<\/em> martini<\/em>. I find that hard to believe, but I was glad to be part of showing her the error of her ways. You’ll be able to tell from the pics that she certainly enjoyed it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We hiked Rattlesnake on the first day. Mom & Sue was a little freaked out by the name, but they enjoyed it none-the-less… it’s a great hike with a very rewarding view. At least on a pretty day it is. :-\/ We got back in time to head out to the main event of the weekend: a night on the town dressed up in feather boas and fancy bling…<\/p>\n Besides the time spent catching up, the highlight of the weekend for me was going to Teatro ZinZanni<\/a>. The show was great. It had pretty much everything. The highlights were the extraordinarily creepy illusionist (Voronin<\/a>), and an amazing choreographed juggler (Viktor Kee : sample @ youtube<\/a>). The singing was excellent, and the performance by the trapeze artists were fabulous. The entire show is an experience that shouldn’t be missed if you have the time and the cash.<\/p>\n Being that we’re all people watchers, the people we were seated next to provided almost as much entertainment as the show itself. To our left was Mrs. GrouchyPants, a 30-something who was “celebrating” her birthday. I use that word very loosely. She was not<\/em> happy<\/em> to be there, and it was very obvious! The only thing we can figure is that her well-meaning husband decided that since he’d<\/em> love the show, so would she, and thus got him (excuse me… them) tickets for her birthday. She was not amused. He, however, loved the show. I don’t think she smiled once, and there was plenty to grin at.<\/p>\n The folks to our right, however, were a completely different story. They were an absolutely adorable couple in their mid-sixties who were on a date. They had gone to the same high-school, but really didn’t know each other back then. He ran into her again when he went to his 30-something daughter’s work for some event. The most amazing thing is that he recognized her and remembered her name 40 years later!! He re-introduced himself, and they started dating soon there-after. They were absolutely adorable. :)<\/p>\n We topped the night off at Tini Bigs where we traded martinis (dirty girlscouts, grasshoppers, and dark-chocolate martinis…) and stories between the three of us. The ladies kept me out way too late.<\/p>\n We packed a lot into the weekend, that’s for damn sure.
