Vancouver Food Tour #2

Sunil, Andy & I made a quick trip back and forth to B.C. this weekend to do our food & dance tour of the town:

1) Brioche is super.  Excellent Lasagna… almost as good as DD’s.  Sunil’s vegetarian eggplant Lasagna looked almost as good as my 23-ingredient-chocked pasta delight.  Almost.

2) Granville Island is quite nice, what Pike Place ought to aspire to be

3) Vij’s is still great, even when you overstuff yourself after the requisite 2 hour wait to get in.  Vikram, Vij’s food pimp & owner, was working the room the whole night offering up h’orderves and good conversation.  Apparently he’s hosting a food tour of India in February 2009 which would be a blast.

4) Oydessy was way more fun than the lack-luster crowd at Celebrities; Oyd won on music, vibe, drinks, crowd… pretty much everything.

As per usual there are pictures here.

the prince, maharaja, and I

The three of us took a quick overnight trip to Vancouver, B.C. to eat and club.  I had never met the Maharaja before Saturday morning when we left on the trip, as he’s a friend of the Prince.  The Maharaja is a stellar individual: vibrant, fun, witty, intelligent, and all around a good man to know.  It’s wonderful when the friends of friends end up being just as great as the friends themselves.

The Prince & the Maharaja were the instigators and planners of this trip and I was largely along for the ride.  The plan was simple: eat in Chinatown, swing through the Punjabi district, and then have dinner at Vij’s.  The rest of the evening would be spent drinking & dancing at a random venue TBD.
